The short answer
Is Ashburn, VA a good place to buy a home? Buyers look at Ashburn for its planned communities, its two Silver Line Metro stations (Ashburn and Loudoun Gateway, open since November 15, 2022) and its spot on the W&OD Trail. Whether it is right for you depends on your budget, commute and the type of home you want. Bright MLS reports Loudoun County, not Ashburn alone: in September 2026 the county’s median sold price was $758,500, up 0.8% from a year earlier, homes sold in a median of 19 days, and active listings were up 34.1% (Bright MLS).
Where is Ashburn?
Ashburn is an unincorporated community in eastern Loudoun County, north of Washington Dulles International Airport, with ZIP codes 20147 and 20148. Because it is not an incorporated town, Loudoun County government, services and real estate taxes apply. Main roads include Route 7, the Dulles Greenway and Loudoun County Parkway. Neighborhoods include Ashburn Farm, Ashburn Village, Broadlands, Brambleton and One Loudoun.
Does Metro go to Ashburn?
Yes. Ashburn station is the western end of the Silver Line, in the median of the Dulles Greenway at Ashburn Village Boulevard, and Loudoun Gateway station is a stop to the east. Both opened on November 15, 2022, when the Silver Line Extension added six stations and 11.4 miles of track (WMATA). Many Ashburn homes are still a drive or bus ride from a station, so test your commute at rush hour.
